  • For iPhone
    Install using a QR code
    Method 1: Scan the QR code with your iPhone camera

    Please scan the QR code from your camera.

    Method 2: Scan and add on the settings page
    STEP

    Open Settings
    Tap Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code.

    Use your phone’s camera to scan the eSIM QR code you received via email.

    Method 3: Add eSIM from the Photos app

    Open Settings
    Tap Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code > Open Photos.

    Select eSIM QR Code
    Select the eSIM QR code photo from your gallery. Your iPhone will scan the QR code and install the eSIM.

    Manual Installation
    STEP

    Check the email sent from the retailer
    Check the email from the retailer that contains the eSIM information.

    STEP

    Open Settings
    Tap Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code > Enter Details Manually.

    STEP

    Enter Activation Code
    Enter the corresponding “SM-DP+Address” and “Activation Code.” Be careful not to include unnecessary characters such as spaces.

    Other eSIM Installation Methods

    Long press the eSIM QR code

    This method is compatible with iOS 17.4 and later. After ordering, the retailer will send you information about eSIM installation and activation via email. Long-press the eSIM QR code in the email and tap the “Add eSIM” option in the pop-up.

    Install using a QR code
    Method 1: Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera

    Open the camera > Scan the QR code > Tap Add plan to your phone.

    Method 2: Scan and add on the settings page
    STEP

    Open Settings
    ・Samsung Galaxy

    Tap Settings > Connections > SIM manager or SIM card manager > Add eSIM or Add mobile plan > Scan QR code from service provider or Scan carrier QR code or Add using QR code.

    ・Google Pixel

    Tap the + icon next to Settings > Network Internet > Mobile network or SIM.

    ・Other Android Smartphones

    The display may vary slightly depending on the brand and model, but it is similar to adding an eSIM to a Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Go to [Settings] > [Mobile Network] > [SIM Card List] > [Add eSIM]. Or, click [+] in the mobile network settings.

    Scan QR Code
    Tap “Download a SIM instead?” or “Don’t have a SIM card?” > “Next”. Use the scan box to scan the eSIM QR code you received via email.

    Even if you are unable to configure the communication line settings successfully, please do not delete the QR code you have registered. With eSIMs, you cannot reconfigure with the same QR code once you have deleted it.

  • Please follow these steps to check if there are any unnecessary VPN profiles remaining:

    Open the Settings app

    Scroll down and select “General”

    Select “VPN Device Management”

    Delete any other profiles that remain

    STEP

    Restart your device after deleting.

    To activate your eSIM, tap ‘Continue’
    You will be directed to the eSIM activation page when you use the QR code or manually install the eSIM profile information. Just tap ‘Continue’ until the activation is complete.

    How to resolve ‘Activating…’ and ‘Unable to activate eSIM’

    This happens when you have not yet arrived at your destination and there is no corresponding network to activate the travel eSIM. Because you have not arrived at your destination, you will not be able to connect, and after about 10 minutes, you will receive the message ‘Unable to activate eSIM’. At this point, turn off the eSIM and turn it on again once you arrive at your destination. You can also restart your phone to speed up the process, but be sure to turn off the eSIM after restarting.
    Depending on the radio wave environment, the installed eSIM may display ‘Activating…’ if there is no corresponding network.

    How to resolve ‘This code is no longer valid’

    You may encounter the error ‘Cannot add eSIM. This code is no longer valid.’ In most cases, the eSIM has already been added to your smartphone and can be found in the SIM list.

    Set up your eSIM label
    Once you activate your eSIM, you will usually see the SIM list settings page. The newly added eSIM will appear at the bottom of the list, usually with a preset label such as ‘Travel’ by default. You can customize this at any time if you need a different label. Simply select the corresponding eSIM and rename it as you wish. Enter a custom label for this eSIM plan in the blank field labeled ‘CUSTOM LABEL’.

    Set the default line and cellular data
    You may also see the default line settings.

    • Default line>>Select ‘Primary Line’.
    • iMessage & FaceTime >> Select ‘Primary Line’ to keep your original number for iMessage and FaceTime.
    • Mobile data>> If you have not yet arrived at your destination, select your original SIM card. Once you arrive at your destination, select the newly added eSIM. Please turn on ‘Allow Mobile Data Switching’.

    Note: Be sure to set the Travel eSIM as your default mobile data/cellular data line when using it.

    Internet connection (disable roaming)

  • Your activation may not have completed because you are not connected to a Japanese mobile network. You can activate your device while connected to a Japanese mobile network, so please try activating it again after arriving in Japan. Please be careful not to delete it.

  • A: The SIM’s usage period begins on the first day it connects to a Japanese network.
