- Q: What should I do if I see the error message “Unable to activate eSIM” when activating eSIM?
Your activation may not have completed because you are not connected to a Japanese mobile network. You can activate your device while connected to a Japanese mobile network, so please try activating it again after arriving in Japan. Please be careful not to delete it.
- Q: I would like to know the start date and end date of the SIM.
A: The SIM’s usage period begins on the first day it connects to a Japanese network.
- Q: I want to know about mobile network coverage areas.

STEPScan the QR codeWhen scanning the QR code attached to the email, either print out the QR code and scan it using the smartphone or other device on which you wish to register the eSIM, or display the QR code on a separate communication device and then register it on the terminal that will utilise the eSIM.

Secondary line・・・We recommend setting this as a dedicated line for local data communication when travelling overseas, or as an additional data line within Japan.
Please configure the purchased eSIM as your secondary lineSTEPLine SwitchingWhen configuring your eSIM, you may encounter a message stating “Unsupported mobile data plan”. Please disregard this and press “OK” to proceed. Additionally, on the default line selection screen, please select “Use secondary line for mobile data only” to complete the setup. This will enable data communication via eSIM both domestically and internationally, while your primary phone number will switch to the physical SIM. The mobile communication switch is complete when the antenna display shows two bars indicating the primary and secondary line mobile network providers.

Important Notes
Even if you are unable to successfully configure your communication line settings, please do not delete any QR codes you have already registered. With eSIMs, deleting a registered QR code will prevent you from re-registering the same QR code.
